Be clear up front: a design patent only protects physical things with a shape - a product, packaging, or a screen design. It covers how it looks, never how it works. Methods, software logic, formulas, and services need a utility patent.

An inventor is anyone who materially contributed to what the claims cover - not investors, and not helpers who just followed instructions. Start with the lead inventor, then add any co-inventors below; you'll confirm the final list once you've reviewed the claims.
